WHILE

While एक conjunction है; इसका meaning उस समय के दौरान होता है तथा यह एक subclause के पहले use होता है।

E.g

The storm hit the city while we’re having a party.
I’ll make the salad while you peel the potatoes.
(To peel the potato: आलू छीलना)

While riding along the road, I noticed a guy eve-teasing a girl.
(eve-teasing a girl: लड़की छेड़ना;along the road:सड़क के साथ/सड़क पर बाइक चलाते समय )

 

 When or While

कुछ घटित हुई चीजों/कामों या किसी घटनाओं का समय बताने के लिए when का use करते हैं न की while का।

I was having a conversation with my friends over a phone call when there was an abrupt knock on the door.

(abrupt:sudden)

I was reading the newspaper when Palestinians attacked Israel by missiles.

while का contrast में use

विषमता (contrast) दिखाने के लिए हम while का use करते हैं :-

Most of the Indian villagers prefer Palm wine while urbanites are beer drinkers.

यहां while का meaning in contrast, on the other hand, unlike or whereas है।

Standard British English में whilst form, while से ज्यादा formal होती है।

While: a period of time

While को एक noun के रूप में भी use कर सकते हैं जिसका meaning “a period of time” (समय की अवधि) होती है।

I found him studying all the while.

Boss ordered me to sort out the given assignments in a while.

I’ll be back in a while till then do your homework.

I haven’t seen her for a while.

MEANWHILE

Meanwhile एक adverb है और आमतौर पर इससे एक new sentence शुरु किया जाता है। इसका meaning;
in the meantime, all the while or at the same time ही होता है।

Priya went out in the garden in order to pick some flowers. Meanwhile, Pihu decorated the room of newlyweds for their first night.
(Newlywed: a recently married person)

He would be discharged from the hospital in the evening, but meanwhile, you should be taking care of him as much as possible.

Note:- in the meanwhile लिखना गलत होगा। इसे या तो meanwhile या in the meantime होना चाहिए।
